Yes, we are talking about none other than Mr Phaneendra Nath Chaturvedi – Assistant Professor, School of Architecture & Planning. It’s a pleasure for Sharda University to have such a talented mind onboard to mentor the young brains. Let’s take a quick glimpse of his achievements in the world of visual arts:

  • Most recently his art journey is featured in ArtAsiaPacific magazine, Hong Kong in March – April 2017 edition. ArtAsiaPacific magazine, Hong Kong is the leading English-language periodical covering contemporary art and culture from Asia, the Pacific and the Middle East.
  • His art work is auctioning along with leading Indian artists in this auction in New Delhi, Mumbai, New York and London.
  • In a wide-ranging interview with Saffronart, Chaturvedi elaborated on his work, ‘We Who Live By Myth.’
  • A blog was published on his art journey by Saffronart which is a high-end platform for the sale of fine art, jewellery, prime property, and rare collectables ranging from carpets and textiles to watches and classic automobiles.

According to SaffronArt, “Born in Varanasi in 1981, the young artist Phaneendra Nath Chaturvedi unapologetically unmasks the men and women he draws in his large-format works to reveal the grotesque, robotic creatures he believes they really are. Skeletal forms in colorful shirts and dresses populate his multi-piece works on paper, some plugged into an electrical outlet, others held down with barbed wire and nuts and bolts.”

Now, let’s know more about one of his highly-acclaimed creations, which was auctioned on 6 – 7 June 2017 on saffronart.com:

“We Who Live By Myth”

The use of pencil for the central figure creates an interesting contrast with the vibrant red butterfly wings. Grey is made up of a mixture of colours. The wings were created in a moment of spontaneity, so the choice wasn’t as deliberate.

The Peroration

He has developed an astral projection perspective to experience the metamorphosis of the human condition and observed the human-robotic transformation insightfully. His ‘Anthropoid Characters’ amazingly narrate the saga of captivity and in the same frame proffering a glimpse of them being emancipated.
